CONNECT WITH CARE

Supporting someone doesn’t mean having all the answers or fixing the situation. Connecting with care is about sharing options, offering encouragement, and respecting the person’s choices. Professional support, community resources, and trusted relationships all play a role in ongoing care.

Fort Bend County and the City of Sugar Land have specialized trained teams of law enforcement officers called the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). These teams are there to assist residents in a mental health crisis, ensure safety, and connect individuals with needed mental health services. They seek to divert people away from incarceration or emergency rooms when possible. CIT also provides follow up checks when necessary to prevent further crisis and to assist in recovery.
